After much searchings and learnings... I want to share my experiences on those analyzer instruments.

Since my project involving more than 15 types of instruments, it is really a solid wall for me to break. Every analyzer has their own data output format.

Here are common characteristics of those instrument:
1. RS-232 communication protocol.
2. Serial port socket are not standard from DB-9, DB-25, male, female.
3. ASCII data format.

About communication modes:
1. Unidirectional.
2. Bidirectional.
3. Query.

About data field format:
1. Characters delimited.
2. Line division.
3. ASTM.

About spesific data format:
Better ask the vendor/developer of those instrument, especially analyzers using line division and ASTM format.

Another good general refs:
1. ASTM 1381 documents.
2. ASTM 1394 documents.

I wish this experience will be useful.

My best regards,
