picstart plus circuit

Hi again to all!

I've successfully tested the PUM. So, as promised here are the files.
I only tested to program PIC12F683, but i think it's all ok.
It's not needed to cut the piece of plastic from the cover!
It can be easily done in single side PCB.
If you have any trouble, please let me know...

picstart plus 18f6720 firmware config bits

Is it ok to replace the PIC18F6720 with PIC18F6722? The 6720 is obsolete. And what about replacing the 17C44 with Micrchip's recommended replacement (the 18F452 or 4520?)

picstart plus schematic diagram

Hi,

I had built a PCB according to Johnmx's suggested design and soldered the PIC18LF6720 onto the board. I imported the firmware pspls42003.hex using MPLAB 6.30 and set the configuration bit as suggested by Johnmx. After that i program the board. It is programmed sucessfully. However, when i test out the homemade PUM (by replacing the pic17c44), it doesn't work. I keep receiving error message "This device requires firmware version 3.0.7 or higher". Tried different version of FWs (incl. pspls44001, pspls45002, pspls41006 and pspls4005) but all gave me the same error message.

Could anyone help me? Did i set the configuration bit correctly? Thank you!

picstart plus pcb schematics

hi there,
i'm new to picstart, so can anyone please explain how to interface the PUM to DB9 serial port and how to port the firmware to P18f6720 and from where to get it?

thanks

protel99 stack overflow problem

It's a very complex and old circuit. Better and easier to build or buy a PICkit2.
