Dear All,

Dielectric Filter is quite common used in wireless application. And this type of filter is comparatively high price in term of passive componet. So any one has some in-deep knowledge on how it model likes order of filters ? How can we put it in simulation?

Is it any alternative structure can replace the filter, we also need to consider the out band or sideband issue and also the cost?

[Which type of dielectric resonator you had in mind : coaxial round or square dielectric resonator, that are described quite well in Trans-tech application notes or software, or dielectric puck resonator?
Both types are described in that software-application notes.

Dielectric Resonator Filters (DRF's) has a complex resonator field coupling to the cavity, coupling lines, apertures, etc. There are design guidelines in text books, but very difficult to model and simulate without a true 3D electromagnetic simulator.

We have successfully used C/S/T M/W/S 4.1 for this job. Measurements (at 19 GHz) on a prototype has good correlation with simulations. Only one iteration was necessary!

A_nsoft's S_eren_ade also models dielectric resonators.
