Hi friends,
I have a problem building PIC based remote control transmiter.
The problem is power supply of the MCU. I must use 12V battery to supply the transmiter, but for MCU I need 5V. I don't want to interrupt the power supply of the MCU by buttons, but in same time I want to reduce the power consumption, so I can't use simple voltage regulator to supply the MCU. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Linear (and others) have some very low
dropout regulators. For simple control
applications, you might also consider running
the MCU at the lowest speed possible for
further power savings.
Use the PIC16HV540, it can run on a power supply from 3-15Volts.
It has an inbuilt voltage reg for port A, either 3.3 or 5 volts.
Port B works on the main supply.
Can also go to sleep to save power.
I've used it running on a 9volt battery.
