Hi

I want to network 8 nodes through Controller Area Network.

The CAN protocol says that the connection should be like..a single bus to which all the nodes are connected.

So does that mean that the connecction should be like in fig (1) of the image shown.....or can it also be like in (2).....

I mean...the CAN protocol saying that...a single bus to which all the nodes are connected..is it just a way of visualizing it..or is it that even physically the connection is like that??

logically (and sometimes physically) it is fig 1 - the stations are multidropped of the bus with a terminator at each end.
physically is can be wired like fig 2 with a pair of sockets with the CANL and CANH lines of the sockets connected on the PCB - so the final wireing is like fig 1
