Regarding T.30 protocol

Could someone tell me what duplex modulation and half duplex modulation mean with respect to FAX technology..
You can get the T.30 protocol pdf from https://www.itu.int/rec/T-REC-T.30-200509-I/en.

Refer to page 119.I am a bit confused about the explanation given in this page.
