Hello all,

can you please recommend a suitable architecture for an ultra low power, low frequency (50Khz), and modest phase noise requirement.

many thanks

Re: oscillator design

since the osc frequency is not high, maybe Gm-C structure is a choice.

oscillator design

ring osc such as inverter chain or delay cell

oscillator design

there are different oscillator which you can use for ur purpose.
if it is for non sensitive purpose, you can use any LC oscillator.e g: Colpit osc, or Hertley osci
but you can also use a ring osci

Re: oscillator design

Due to the low frequency, if you use LC type the area is very large.

If you use ring oscillator, you may need many stages.

I suggest you can use relax RC type oscillator.

The area can be smaller than other ones.

Yibin.

Re: oscillator design

I am sure you can get such circuits in the market.

The frequency is very very low, have you thought of using an A-Stable?

Re: oscillator design

thank you all for your input,

indeed i have considered A-stable and ring oscillators, but they produce digital signals, i need a sin wave.

any comments?

Gm-C osc circuit genetates the sine wave, you can try it.

Re: oscillator design

thank you iamxo for your comment.

can you recommend a good reference for an ultra low power, low frequency gm-c oscillator?
