Hi,

Does anyone know a high-side switch with these characteristics?

- operating frequency up to 20kHz
- operating voltage up to 30V
- 1.5A

I currently use a discrete MOS with a driver, but I'd like to replace that by a single component.

Thanks,

cyberblak

Re: High-side switch

Are you looking for a logic-level driven power FET? Are your numbers nominal or maximum?

Maybe you can look at the smart highside MOSFET switches from Infineon.
The following is a parametric list with all the information that you need to make a decision.
http://www.infineon.com/cgi-bin/ifx.../parametricSearch/search.jsp&pageTypeId=17099

For example, with Id=1.5A, Vds,max=40V you can choose the minPROFET BSP452

If this is more than you want you may want to look at the parametric lists at On Semiconductor http://www.onsemi.com, Vishay http://www.vishay.com or International Rectifier http://www.irf.com

I hope this helps you out.

Re: High-side switch

Hi v_c,

That was a good tip, but unfortunately the rise/fall time of these switches are far too high to operate at 20kHz. I looked at pretty much all the "smart switches" from most manufacterers with no success since those are slow devices.

Thanks anyway,

Re: High-side switch

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of rise and fall times are you looking for? If not a smart switch, can you go with something discrete and add the protection yourself?

Sorry that my suggestion did not work out :-(

Best regards,
v_c

Re: High-side switch

Hi,

U can use max1776 or lm2576 ic both having mosfet with inbuilt driver.
