When u use CodeVisionAVR, u can be easy to configure UART for any AVR chip by go to Tool -> CodeWizardAVR. And then u just click options you want. The last, in the CodeWizardAVR dialog, u go to File-> Program preview, u can see the code as u configured before.
On the other hand, u use CodevisionAVR as a terminal (receive and transmit data through com port). The first, you have to setting the COM port like: baud rate, parity bit, stop bit... u go to Setting -> Terminal (i think it's easy to setting some option).
After finishing setting, you can u the terminal easily by go to Tools -> Terminal.
I think the CodeVisionAVR's interface is really easy for newbie. But if you have any questions, please tell more details
