RE: How to solve the Friis equation?

Hi yuyu,

I have a doubt. Its about the Gt formulae that u gave me regarding antenna.

Gt= (4PgrR/lambda)2 Pr/(Pt*Gr)

Gt (dBi)= 10 log Gt

My situation is :

I am transmitting at a power level of -10dBm in sweep oscillator (as a transmitter) and kept signal generator as a receiver. Signal generator receives -55dBm for 2.6GHz.

Based on the formulae that you gave, I'm confused on:

1) What value should I put in Pr , Pt, Gr,Gt.

From my understanding, I am thinking that -10dBm in Pt and -60dBm. How about Gr, Gt?

Waiting for your reply.

Thank you.

Regards,
Saran

RE: How to solve the Friis equation?

I have few questions
What is the distance between tx and rx?
when it is in sweep how you specify that the frequency as 2.6GHz only?

Re: How to solve the Friis equation?

Hi ks pala,

The distance between tx and rx is 6 feets.

In both equipments, i key-in 2.6GHz as centre freq and trying to calculate the gain in dBi.

I think I answered your question?
