Re: Converting inductance to microstripline

Hi, I wish to convert inductance value to its equivalent length of microstrip line with a given substrate height and dielectric permittivity, any closed form expression?

Values are:

Inductance Value: 0.87nH
Substrate height: 0.35mm

Thanks

Re: Converting inductance to microstripline

Hi,

1) series inductance

2) parallel inductance

L = (Zl * l/vf) = (Zl * l *√εef)/c

for Zl>>Zv, l <<λg

Re: Converting inductance to microstripline

If load is close to zero then inductance≈j\[Z_o\]tanβl. Otherwise better to use a simulator.

Re: Converting inductance to microstripline

In principle inductances can be approximated by high impedance transmission line but its is only an approximation. The higher the line impedance the better the approximation.

BUT

High impedance microstrip lines, which are thin, can be lossy and are not capable of handling high power. So its often worth considering if there are other possibilities.
