What is the best product to clean CRT glass? I currently use only water and fabric

Any glass-surface cleaning solution should be sufficient

alcohol 54 is better than water to remove stains and scratches?

You can't wash away scratches. At best polish it away.

I don't know what you mean by alcohol 54.
There are a pair of common household alcohols, isopropyl and ethyl.
There is a third one methyl, but it is toxic and mostly used in industrial environments.

They are rated for the alcohol concentration level. Depending on the laws where you live, it can be anywhere from 70 to 96.

None will damage glass.

What kind of stain you are trying to remove? A damp cloth should be sufficient for most purposes. For my TV screen I use the common cleaner for the window panes- just make sure that it does not go in.
