Questions about functions and working with I2S

Can any one clarify my doubt...

1. Is there any start and stop conditions, ack signals in I2S like I2C?
2. will I2S bus will carry address ? or data alone by fixed address for slaves?is ther any single master to multi slave communications?
3. if data is transmitted from the master transmitter fifo how can use (SW)word select signal, when should it go high or low ?
4.if transmitter is the master data line SD will be unidirectional?
