I have 3.24MHz colpitts oscillator on breadboard whose waveform shows up at the frequency on oscilloscope however the whole waveform is oscillating up and down. This is shown in attached picture. Is this normal? or is this due to power supply frequency?

thank you

Hi,

I agree with Barry.
Switch scope timing up to milliseconds to see the low frequency.

If your dso has digital filter you can extract the LF to see if its a ground
loop problem, or common mode problem. Or use scope, diff mode, to
confirm grounding or some other common mode signal is not the issue.

Regards, Dana.

hello all,
I removed front part of probe and connected closer to the signal point and I got good stable.

thank you all
