Hey, as a general good practice you don't turn off the current sources in applications where accuracy and fast settling are critical. But I'm saying this without reading the paper. It does look like accuracy of the current and speed is important though.
 

Yes. Accuracy of the current is very important, it will cause overshoot problem when finish charging operation.
