25lc1024 question

Hi,
How the single byte overwrite function happens in flash?Did it require to take back up of whole page in temparary memory before erasing it or temparary buffer in flash memory perform this function?

Did the byte overwrite function in all below flash is identical?
25LC1024(microchip),
M25PE10(ST)
AT25F1024A (Atmel).
