will it create any damage to Regulator if we apply voltage to Output pins of regulator with out applying the Input to regulator??

Re: Regulator protection

How could you get the desired voltage from regulator if you will apply in voltage on output pin????

Re: Regulator protection

i am applying from other source not for that regulator,, that other source is shorted to output pins of this requlator.

Re: Regulator protection

Answer - Yes, it can cause damage. The simplest fix may be to connect a diode across the regulator, wired so it normal is NOT conducting. If the output voltage rises above the input voltage the diode will conduct and keep the voltage across the regulator at no more than one diode voltage drop.
