I want to buy a development kit and there is option to choose which JTAG emulator. One is USB-based ($50) and the other one is parallel port-based($14). My computer/laptop doesn't have the parallel port. So, I forced to buy the double-priced USB-based emulator (the DK itself only about $50). I wonder if it is possible to buy a parallel-to-USB converter to do the job. Therefore, I can get the cheaper price parallel port. I have asked the company itself, but they are saying 'it definately will not work!'. I am just affraid they are hardselling the one with higher price to me. Thanks....

hi,

I think it wont work because your laptop need to understand what is coming through the parallel port which will be provided by the parallel port driver coming along the emulator.

Good Luck

I read some posts where they have the same problem as well. It probably won't works. Better go for the USB then....
