GSM spec for Received Signal strength(ETSI 11.10 - 21.1)

There are 2 tolerance spec: Single and Multi
Below is the explanation of what means for single and multi

Single means that the measurements are on the same or different RF channel within the same frequency band.
Multi means that the measurements are on different RF channel on different frequency bands.

But I still don't understand, how to define if the measurment is Single or Multi??
Thanks a lot. : )

etsi gsm signal strength test

Hello,

Consider that your handset is dual band (GSM900 + DCS1800), I think that for:

-single meas.: the measurements are done on channels that belongs only to
GSM900 or DCS1800, which means that mobile stays within those freq.
bands

-Multi meas.: the measurements are done on channels that belongs either to
GSM900 or DCS1800. During this test case, your mobile could switch from
GSM900 channels to DCS1800 channels.

I hope this helps.
