I'm trying to build a simple GPS receiver using microstrip components. If I'm correct, I think the bandwidth of GPS L1 band is about 25 MHz. I tried to build a 5-order coupled-line filter in ADS with a bandwidth about 50 MHz. I found that it's already been very difficult to realize a 50 MHz passband(which is pretty narrow) centered at 1575.42 MHz using this regular design method. I'm thinking about if I make a filter with 100 MHz centered at 1575.42 MHz, am I going to receive too much unwanted signals? Cuz I think the antenna also receive signals selectively. Or can I do another filtering at IF frequency after I mix down the signals?
