Purpose of diodes in supervisor IC circuit

This is a reset circuit from Xilinx ZCU106 evaluation board. What is the purpose of D5 and D6 diodes here? Are they really needed?

Assuming a certain impedance of wire to remote enclosure switches, can you think of any reason why AMD would include them in this design?
 
Looks like logic is MR disabled if P-B activated and header jumper absent.
