pulse width modulation princilpes and applications

i want to study the subject of pulse width modulation, and i don't know how to start. can any one helped me to learn about PWM principles and applications.

Well, Pulse width modulation is a technique in wich the information is in the average of signal, period and amplitud are constant, the width of the ON pulse is the only that changes.

Applications are: DC motor speed control, Switch mode pulse Supply in voltage mode, battery charge, communications, etc
