Master or Slave

HI,

I'm currently doing a project on Speech with Digital Signal Processing, whereby i need to input some of speech signal, and do some processing to eliminate the noise or echo, and output to the speaker. I am using dsPIC 33FJ 256 GP710 and Si3000 codec.

(1) Should i use DCI module with DMA or without DMA?
(2) Which of the component should play the role as Master to generate the Frame synchronisation? dsPIC33F or Si3000?

Thanks
