problem with an AT command, especially AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","free"

Hello people, I'm trying to connect my gsm modem (siemens mc35i) to my linux redhat pc. I use minicom to cofigure it and i create a symbolic link with command line " ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/modem. After launching "minicom modem", AT command return me OK but but when i try to define my PDP context with "AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","free" " it return me ERROR. Can somebody help me please? I need it before using SMSlib for my internship.

Just a guess: no SIM PIN set.

General suggestion, enable extended error messages with AT+CMEE to know about error causes.

Thank for you help, i have set pin with AT+CPIN but now when i launch connection with ATD*99*1# or ATD*99***1#, it return me NO CARRIER, do you have some idea?
