problem in interfacing mobile phone to windows

i want to connect a mobile phone to a pc(windows) & control it using at commands on hyperterminal. i would like it to execute a no of commands(calls,sms,etc...) on its own. my problem is that windows is unable to detect an interrupt upon completion of a task. how do i solve this(i dont want to use polling as it will be wasteful for my application)???????pls help
