Hi guys, I try to install ic5033 on SUSE 10 and I got a lot of problems. I am a newbie in Linux. These are some problems I got:

1. I create the folder in "/usr/cad/ic5033" and make it full permission for all users.

2. I run the "./SETUP.SH" from the shared folder between VMware and Windows. In the other words, I ran the setup bash shell on "/mnt/hgfs/VMshare/cadence5033/CDROM1/".

3. After running step 2, I got this

You must have write permissions to install directory \c
and all its subdirectories
and atleast 10 MB available disk \c
space in install directory.

4. I found some suggesstion that I can ignore it, so I go to the "usr/cad/ic5033/install/bin.lnx86" to run ./softload. I can run softload at the first time and then I chose
-Load Available Products then
-Local then
-/cdrom I got a problem like this
"Error : /cdrom not readable"

then I choose another way

-Load Available Products then
-Local then
-Other then I specified it to"/mnt/hgfs/VMshare/cadence5033/CDROM1" ( the shared folder I have the setup file cd". After this I got "Error: /mnt/hgfs/VMshare/cadence5033/CDROM1 not readable " the same problem.

Do anyones know how to solve this problem so I can install ic5033? I am a newbie in Linux so I maybe forget some important steps.

Thanks

Added after 3 minutes:

Do I need to mount my setup CD file in the VM shared folder as a cdrom in Linux first? if yes, how. Thanks

suggestion:

use red hat 7.2
copy installation disks to your HD first (e.g. /home/user/cadence/cd1 & .../cd2)
install

configure configuration files (.cshrc or .bashrc ....)
configure licensing

now it should work fine on RH7.2

copy installation and configuration files to whatever linux version you like... and if you're lucky it will run (i have some doubts about getting it running under SUSE10)

please let me know if it still works under SUSE10.
I tried RH7.2-7.3-8-9, FC5 & Debian.
Result:
RH7.2: works fine
RH7.3-8-9: works partly (selection of an item in a list does not always work, very annoying) RH9 gives warning about "accessing errno_h directly)
FC5: gave up
Debian: works after installing some additional glibc lib's. crashes very often.

Hey idfx,
Thanks for your suggest. It works on SUSE10. I copy my ic5033 from RH8 and put it into SUSE10. After I set the .tcshrc file for the ic environment. everything works fine, but I still have the problem with the cdsplotinit. Do you know how to setup plotter for ic5033 with NCSU CDK 1.5?
