Probability vs statistics debate

I have seen numerous post on the difference between probability and statistics. I am not very clear as where do they coincide and at what point do they diverge. Can somebody provide the essence in simple words

Probability refers to the determination of a mathematical model with which you will be able to predict the likeliho of further events even having no sample yet, whereas statistics deals with an amount of samples of past events with wich you will infer the pattern with best approximates the likewood of its happening.
