Why is csh/tcsh shell still used as default shell in IC design industry when scripting in cshell is so frowned upon. Is shell scripting still around or has been completely superceded by languages like perl/python. Being a fresher in this industry which shell does it makes the most sense to go for, bash or csh.
Although perl/python are interpretive languages, thay are not interactive like a shell. You still need shell scripts to setup your environment, create directories, and execute your perl/python scripts. You will see a lot less shell scripting, so the choice between csh and bash is less important. But what is most important is that everyone on the same team/company stick with one shell.
