Hi,

I have a signal that could be approximated to a train of Gaussian functions.

I'm trying to find an algorithm to predict the moment another Gaussian will occur, with its amplitude and it's sigma coefficient in an on line analysis.

I'm new to the prediction of signals, and I don't know which mathematical model of prediction could apply to this kind of signal. I assume it's a non-linear stochastic model, but which method/algorithm to apply?

Thanks for your help !

Is it really that impossible ???

It is as easy as to predict when the phone will ring the next time... Kinda difficult...
You need to understand the source of your signal and apply the same statistics (if I remember correctly, it is a Poisson distribution).
