preamp and latch comparator working

Hello..
i need to explain the internal circuit diagram of a preamp-latch comparator in my presentation..
could anyone please help me out?
starting with the gain equation of preamp to what the latch is doing,i dint quite understand them properly..
Can someone explain it in simple terms?
