Practical Uses of Z Transform in DSPs / Controls / Algos ???

uses of ztransform

Z transform is extensively covered in all DSP texts . I was wondering where it is used Practically . Can anybody give some examples where Z transform is used for designing DSP based systems or Algorithms ??

Or is it just a tool to check stability of a system and has no practical benefits other than being just a mathematical transformation ???

Look at any book or article on digital filter design. You will find many examples of the practical use of the z transform.
