Power supply design

Dear all

I am looking for 2 power supply design. let me know is there any supporting IC available .

1)Power supply : 24 VAC out put 12V DC 500mA

2) Power supply: Input 24-48VAC/DC with 12V DC output 500mA

LM2596 design but its DC-DC converter with Adjustable output. Is any design avilable which give above specification,

Isolating or not?

If non isolating, then LM2596 is a good choice (besides thousands others).
DCDC is O.K. you just need a rectifier and a capacitor to get DC as input for the LM2596.
Adjaustable is O.K. too. It juast says that you can set up output voltage as you like (in a limited range)

Mind that with 48V RMS sinewave input you get about 70V at the capacitor after the rectifier.
LM2596 can stand 45V max only. Thus it´s sutable for max 30V AC RMS sinewave only.

Why do you want to design your own? There are ready to buy modules available from very cheap to very advanced.
With or without case, isolated and not isolated.

ICs are available. Thousands. Thus the distributors and IC manufacturers provide interactive selection guides for you. .. and for free. Use them.
Just type in your requirements. Don´t be afraid when it shows 100 of suitable ICs. Be happy instead ... and choose the one that suits you best.

Flyback is the simplest and possibly best choice here - you can even make it high power factor off the AC source if you wish - kind regards,
 

Hi,

18V AC in --> 12V DC out will work.
Whether you can output 1A depends on the input capability.

You will need 12W + some loss. 15W should be well enough.
So theoretically you may draw just 0.83A ... but due to simple rectifier current waveform you should calculate with at least 1.5A RMS.

just a reminder.
so ac must be converted to dc then supply design should be adjusted for dc
in ac systems ac converters/ac inverters/ac choppers should be used for required signal
