Power estimation tools

Hi,
Can anybody recommend me some tools about power estimation from all design levels, behavior,RTL,gate-level and post-layout? Or any recommendations about how to measure power consumption?

Many thanks in advance!

Re: Power estimation tools

I to want power estimation tool & MTBF tool for communication product testing

Power estimation tools

Hi...
SEQUENCE Power theatre.. (RTL POWER)
**broken link removed**

Synopsys Power Complier.. (POwer optimisation and calculation from gatelevel netlist)

Powermill (for transistor level power calculation)

Re: Power estimation tools

Power Compiler from Synopsys

Re: Power estimation tools

how abt XILINX .. XPOWER.. .how good is that.. how accurate are the results..

with regards,

Power estimation tools

XPOWER caluclates only power in an FPGA.... FPGAs are seldom used in Low power applications like wireless devices.... Also the power of an FPGA is predictable (though it varies little depending on the logic u put in) looking at the FPGA datasheet.

Hi, whizkid
How to do optimize for netlist with Power Complier? I only use it to calculate the power with VCD.

Thanks

Re: Power estimation tools

PowerMill from Synopsys can do such tasks.

The primepower is the best !
But you must provide the detail on the togle

Re: Power estimation tools

power compiler from synopsis is the best one available

Does power compiler can estimate the power consumption from all design levels, say, from RTL level down to post-layout level?

Power estimation tools

Power compiler caluclates only gate level netlist power.

RTL power cant be calculted.

Then, which tool can do RTL level power estimation?

Power estimation tools

I guess I told you already in my 1st post. :)

powermill is used to transistor level power estimate , power compile is used to do gate level power improvement!
and xpower for fpga

Re: Power estimation tools

SPyGlass LowPower tool from Atrenta has many checks . Its used by many big companies right now.

friends,
i hav recently realised that power compiler can estimate power from RTL..
c the attach to know how to do it.

sorry for the error.

I'd like to add that the flow described by whizkid can be used both for verilog and VHDL designs. Also you can use the same flow from DC environment.
