Hi,
Have been handed a product which contains a 1k5 axial resistor in series with a red LED across 24V. So its power dissipation is (22.3V)^2/1500 = 330mW. This resistor is in a well ventilated enclosure.
The resistor is approx cylindrial 8mm long by 1.5mm diameter.
There is no part number or datasheet for this resistor, its just a resistor pulled out of the tray in the workshop.
With the resistor dissipating 330mW, i touched it and it felt barely warm.
The thing is, you do actually get axial resistors of this size which are only rated 0.125W.
Is there any guide to knowing what no_part_number axial resistors can handle power-wise?

Resistors sizes vs power handling....but by no means an all-encompassing guide....

Hi,

Your document is for military parts.

Better look for a 0207 size resistor datasheet, then check whether the size of your resistor matches the datasheet measures.
