polarity identification

I am designing a Voltmeter Meter Circuit.I wanted to know if there is a way by which I could read the Polarity of the Incoming signal without affecting measurement.I can simply obtain the absolute value from a Precision rectifier so I need a method of Finding Polarity.I don't want to use a DC Bias as it would affect my resolution.
