plz help:slots of microstrip antenna

in the paper slrma(slot loaded rectangular microstrip antenna)
is studied.it is used to decrease resonance frequency.whatever it is told in the paper(just 4 page).i don't know what the slot is made of? is it PEC,CU or smt like this?

i try to draw antenna but i do not know what the slot is
i realy searched on the web but i couldn't find.
is slot a part of patch(PEC?) or smt made from another thing? it's written that:...and three identical narrow meandering slots embedded in the ground plane.

I hv designed the substrate and the feed line , remaining the slots , how can I add them ?
