If you live in the United States a good mail order house would be Digikey. They sell small quantities.

dono what planet your on or if you just have a large fat wallet

but farnell costs the most of any supplier anywhere for anything

you need to wheel in a trucklet of gold bullion to pay for say a simple voltmeter

my advice is if your in central europe deal with crownhill associates for micros and other risc toys

and for componets
use epe magazine you buy it at the news agents

or elektor in central europe is good also {but i am sure i have seen many other epe type local mags}

they have reams of cheep suppliers for stuff from programers to tiddly bits for building radios etc....

as for digi key yes good idea

but why not try and wait a few months till proteus catches up
if your in a hurry
try the australian company picnpoke makers
they have a handheld dev unit
covers every pic as an icd and icp also does emulation

you buy the kit and build it

HI,

Just wandering why you don't use ICD2 debbuger from Microchip. I bought my for 220$ and it can program PIC18 and PIC16. In addition it works much faster then ICD.

Just go to Microchip and take one ICD2 - It's well incorporated in MPLAB 6.20.

I made ICD old debugger by myself, but ICD2 is more complicated.

If you're rich guy, buy the emulator ICE.

Can you debug C code or only Assembler code by ICD2? In other words, can you watch variables, set breakpoints, etc. like you can do when you’re programming with Visual C or Borland C ?

I really need an inexpensive but complete C code debugger for PIC 16Fxxx, 18Fxxx. I use HiTech C.

Yes,

You can set one breakpoint in real time working object, not simulation.

You can watch and step C source code and watch/modify variables (local and global).

You can use it like programmer.

You can use it to modify EEPROM and FLASH manually.

Without such device you're "blind".

My advice is ICD2, not ICD

Thanks for your help .. but I was meaning free ICD debugger especialy for PIC18F .. i have indsalet ICD from CCS but it is so confusing .. I don`t know which file is loadet first then which one second .. so i`m stuck right here .. ( i use 20MHz quartz) ..
Or let`s clear out the steps which somebody need to do to make ICD which ..
