my final year project consists of making an automated dye machine. i will use a camera to detect the color which is required and will use ball valves made from servo motors to control the input of dyes. The software i am planning to use will be matlab or labview for image input and i am using a siemens s7 200 PLC to control the valves.
Since i am a newbie in PLC programming, the problem i am facing is to how to make Matlab/labview compatible with the PLC. i have heard of OPC servers but they are expensive, Is there an alternate solution?
Any expertise will be really helpful, also please comment on the project.
