PLC Based AC motor Protection project help needed

Hello Everyone,
my final year project is to protect ac motor using PLC.
i have done over voltage,current, temperature protection.
But i need over speed protection system.i need help about that.
how can i do it??how the encoder use??
how to make the encoder??pls help me Friends

what kind of plc and programming you are using ?

PLC > LG K7M/MK-120S
with A/D converter i need to use a encoder which give me dc output(V/I) with 0~10V or 0~800mA.
I made Plc prog. its just compare the value. i am in trouble with over speed protection analog part.

you are programming with ladder diagramme ??

The only sort of AC motor that can over speed is the so called "universal" motor (with brushes). Just looking at the current and the voltage applied to one will reveal if its going over speed.
