Pierce oscillator bias resistor

I use an amplitude regulation loop (the one used by Vitoz) in a crystall oscillator based on the Pierce configuration. I am not sure how to choose the bias resistor (the one between D and G of MOS). Ideally the bigger it is the less power is consumed in it.
Also, because of the amplitude regulation loop there is a multi-pole system. I do not really understand how to choose the bias resistor so that the oscillator is stable.
