I was trying to build temperature sensor with T type thermocoupler (it has two pins only) using pic18f45k22. I am using mikroC pro compiler. Can anyone help. Please
Thermocouple voltage can't be processed by PIC directly. Need a DC amplifier with gain of 200 to 250 to fit the 5 V ADC range, also a temperature sensor for cold junction compensation.
I did that. Used x100 analog amplifier based on cheapest LM358. But the mathematic was a bit complex. Calibration needed with linear aqualization. Cold junction was fake - used 20 degrees (indoor use only).
Signal conditioning circuits for thermocouples is a frequently discussed topic here.
A simple forum search should give more than enough information.
And an internet search gives even more informations.
Semiconductor manufacturers make various ICs.
* simple amplifiers
* simple cold jucntion voltage generators
* amplifiers with cold junction compensation
* complete circuits including ADCs
...
and usually they have "application notes" regarding this topic.
