The purpose of this post is to warn you about some series of PIC16F8xxA that were produced before week 42 of 2002.
I was using them in an "ad hoc" PLC, at 18432000 Hz. Some devices seemed to "confuse" in certain logic steps. It almost drive me nuts! until I've found in microchip site, an Errata document that tell you, that those devices have some fetching problem with clocks over 4Mhz!!.
Apart from that problem, all devices (10) are extremely sensitives to EMI, on the other hand, old 16F877 works just fine.

check for more information:

You have to be really carefull, I had the same problem with 16F877A 0220.

They simply do not function correctly and are extremly sensitive to EMI.

You can not use them above 4 MHz although they are specified for 20 MHz !!!!!
