PIC usart - change the data format from 8bit to 7bit

PIC usart

I want to change the data format from 8bit to 7bit to interface my PIC to an old equipment.

How can I do that?

PIC32, PIC18, PIC24, PIC16 or which one?. Later i will post you a pic32 example.
