Pic theremocouple display system with presets

I'm trying to find out if there is any schematics for having a pic read a thermocouple then display to an lcd with presets and a realay control. I would like to have the pic control the burner on my DIY aluminum melting fournace. I am looking at using the max6655 chip and then say a pic 877a or whatever can be recommended to me. As always any input is greatly appreciated.

This MAX chip uses I2C bus so first familiarize yourself with codes for this protocol.

You can also find LCD display that uses the I2C bus and connect both, MAX6655 and a LCD display, to the same bus ..
