hi
any has experience to drive a CMOS input (or MOSFET gate ?) with osc2 pin (PIC XT or LP crystal oscillator) when we need another clock in the harware ?

I have done that in a few designs with 16F877 and 16F628 works without problems for me.

Try to keep the connection as short as possible and connect only one input to osc2.

I also did it the other way (connecting a clock to osc1) which also worked perfect for me.

best regards

thanks Cman
as i have to take a CMOS buffer, what is the 'best' solution :

* wire its input to OSC2
* or build an oscillator with it and drive the PIC ext-OSC input ?

I would wire it to PIC oscout and use the builtin oscillator of the pic.

Never had a problem using it this way :)

best regards
