I've heard rumors that some PIC chips can implement a boot loader while having the protection bit set. Anyone know if this exists? I'm using a 16F876.

As far as I remember, PIC16F87xA have self-programming with protection bit.

That's what I've heard...

But all the bootloaders I've found say they don't work with the protection bit set. Anyone know of a bootloader that works with the protection bit?

It looks good, but...

I thought it was pretty much what I wanted, but then I noticed it was for the 18F series. Almost! I'm using the 16F8XX series. Know of any for that series?

I'm sorry I don't. Try talking to Martin and ask him if the firmware can be modified for the 16F8xx series.
