Hi
I am trying to connect 10 IR sensors and 4 line LCD to pic 16f877
my question is that how many pic16f877 i need?
I have consulted couple of specialists and they did not agree on a unique answer
Thanks in advance

PIC16F877 has plenty of user programmable I/O pins, it will take care of 10 IR + 4 LCD I/O lines.

But your final requirement will depend on your end product, so consult the data before pinning it down.

You can connect the IR sensors that you want, and you don't need a lot of pics to do that, its simple, use a multiplexer, in a mux, you have a lot of inputs and only an exit, the only thing that you need to do is to manage the mux's control pins to select the desired sensor. It's an idea, but i agree with Jack, the final requeriment will depend on your end product.

Hi,
10 IR inputs + 4 line LCD pins can all be handled by a single 16F877 even without mux, by just having them all directly connected to individual IO pins. It all depends on how you code and how you choose to set up the circuit.

Hope this helps.
Tahmid.
