does anyone know any dll files with good documentation that'll provide functions for working with the named ports & PCI in C++?
 

for Windows platforms:

-Serial: Windows API
-Parallel and PCI: TvichW32 (jus google it)
-USB: I use USB devices from FTDI with vendor specific drivers and libraries
