Hello!

ICD1 is older version wich suport only 16F87X family.

ICD2 is new version with much wider specter of suported devices. It also have USB suport and it works with MPLAB IDE v6.10.

This is only short note! All other you can check on Microchip page.

Please, don't hesitate to contact me for any aditional info!

Best regards!

Hi guys

Be carefully with ICD2 because doesn´t work well the USB conexion,
and has a little more problems. See topics discused before on forum about it.

Work ICD1 with pic12, pic16, and pic18 micro's
and also MPLAB 6 ??

pic development boards for pic18f1220 in india

No, the original ICD works only with 16F87x...
ICD 2 does what ICD1 does plus a lot of devices in the 18F series.

In addition ICD works only with the old MPLAB 5.x
ICD2 works with MPLAB 6.x

If anyone have any design resources concerning ICD2 I'm very interrested!!!

icd2 with pic16f819

The hex file is included in MPLAB from Microchip (free...)

The file is MPL876.HEX if I remember correctly. You can also get schematic for ICD and lab board if you look under development tools, and download the PDF manuals for ICD 1 and lab board.

icd 1 microchip firmware

Hello,
The pins of the pic used for the debug are RB6, RB7 and RB3. So you can't use this pin for normal IO.
Be careful with the led on the "ICD module", you must have 13V on VPP. The direct voltage of the led define the VPP voltage. Your must have #2V led.

CD :)
