hi i ve designed patch antenna at 35 GHZ using ADS.but i dont know to find beamwidth and front to back ratio from radiation pattern?can anybody pls help me?
The beamwidth you can derive from the radiation pattern. It is mostly defined as the angle between the points (angles) where the gain dropped 3 dB below the main beam gain. It can be specified for both XZ and YZ plane (assuming maximum gain is in positive Z direction).
Front to back ratio is just Gain(front direction) - gain(backwards direction), all in dB. For getting useful simulation results for F/B ratio, you should simulate your antenna with the actual ground plane (not infinite).
Did you put this question in a new thread also? Your problem seems to be how to use ADS instead of "patch antenna at 35 GHz". Make sure to express in your question whether you have a problem with how to design an antenna or how to use ADS.
Go to ADS, layout window of your design , Momentum , post processing and then radiation pattern for 2D or 3D . There you can find all your required details regarding radiation patttern.
Hi,
first your radiation pattern must be for the power ,not for E
second, your radiation pattern must be normalized, i.e.start from 0 dB
now, the beam width is the angle (on x axis) between tow points with power equal to -3dB,this is called half power beamwidth
or -3 dB beamwidh
which gives the beamwidth when the power is half its maximum value
I hope that
my answer helped you
